Contribution to climate change: Helps combat climate change by monitoring and bringing transparency to the status of Undesignated Public Forests (UPFs) in the Amazon—areas highly vulnerable to deforestation, land grabbing, and fires.

Use of technology: An interactive digital platform that uses dynamic maps, integration of geospatial data, and official information to monitor the status of UPFs in real time.

Examples of application:

  • Enables civil society to track, oversee, and advocate for public policies to protect and designate these areas, while also sharing alerts and up-to-date news.

  • Monitoring of more than 56 million hectares of undesignated public forests in the Amazon.

  • Supports law enforcement and mobilizes civil society to push for the protection and legal designation of UPFs.

  • Serves as a tool for researchers, NGOs, journalists, and citizens to monitor and report environmental crimes, such as deforestation and land grabbing, in these critical areas.
