Contribution to climate change: Continuously monitors biogeochemical cycles, gas flow, humidity, temperature and other atmospheric and environmental parameters, providing essential data to understand the role of the Amazon in the global climate system.
Use of technology: It uses an advanced infrastructure consisting of meteorological, chemical and biological sensors installed in the tower, as well as mobile laboratories and a monitoring network that collects high-frequency data. This technology allows for precise measurement of carbon, water and energy flows, as well as observation of complex atmospheric processes, such as cloud formation and pollutant transport.
Application examples:
Research that assesses the forest's carbon balance and its role in mitigating climate change.
Studies on the influence of the Amazon on cloud formation and the regional and global hydrological cycle.
Development and improvement of climate models that incorporate real forest data for more accurate predictions.
