  • Contribution to climate change: Real-time monitoring and alerts issuing about risks of natural disasters in Brazil, such as floods, landslides, droughts and other geo-hydrometeorological events. Contributes to the safety and resilience of climate impacts on vulnerable populations.

  • Use of technology: Uses a wide network of sensors, weather stations, radars, satellite images and computer modeling to monitor extreme events. Provides daily bulletins, risk forecasts, alerts, technical reports and hydrological projections.


Application examples:

  • Issuing early warnings for municipalities at risk of disasters, allowing preventive actions and evacuations.

  • Support for urban planning and management of vulnerable areas based on scientific data and projections.

  • Production of studies and publications to improve public policies for risk and disaster management.
